Dożynki Festival Weekend at Corpus Christi Church

The 35th annual Dożynki Polish Harvest Festival at Corpus Christi Church in Buffalo, New York will take place this weekend on August 15, 16 and 17. The word Dożynki means a celebration of harvest and is a centuries old tradition by farmers in rural Poland.

The weekend long celebration will include traditional Polish food, music and drink. Festival highlights include music by the Melody Lane, Special Delivery, The Buffalo Touch and Phocus, the 7th Annual Buffalo’s Best Pierogi Contest on Saturday, August 16 at 4:30pm and the Harvest Mass on Sunday, August 17 at 11:30am.

The festival opens on Friday, August 15 at 6:30pm and closes on Sunday, August 17 at 8:00pm.

Corpus Christi Church was founded in 1898 and is located in the heart of East Buffalo’s Historic Polonia. It is on the state and national lists of historic places.

Do you think you have what it takes to be a judge at the 7th Annual Buffalo’s Best Pierogi Contest?

For the last few years, we have opened some slots to give people the opportunity to serve as a judge at the contest. All you have to do is make your case to be selected in 300 words or less via an online form.  Sounds easy, right? Last year, there were almost eighty submissions. You have to make a compelling argument. The deadline for submissions is 07/01/2014.

The contest is on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at 4:30pm and is part of Corpus Christi Church’s annual Dożynki Polish Harvest Festival.

2014 Miss Dożynki Contest

2014 Miss Dożynki Contest: Would you or someone you know like to represent Corpus Christi by being Miss Dożynki? Then write a short essay explaining why you would like to be considered for this recognition, and what it would mean to you. Send it to us by June 30th. The address is Dożynki 2014, c/o Corpus Christi Church Office, 199 Clark St., Buffalo, NY 14212. We will make sure that it gets to the proper group in time for judging.
