The Friends of Corpus Christi Planning & Development Committee was created on May 29, 2003 with the purpose of keeping the Church from closing on July 1, 2003. Initially, a comittee of three persons, it grew to thirteen members and four advisors. In June 2003, His Excellency Bishop Henry Mansell consented to a Business Plan being prepared by the Comittee and assigned Monsignor Matthew Kopacz to see if an Order of priests could be attracted to take ownership of the Church complex. ….And the rest is history! The Pauline Fathers and Brothers agreed to assume ownership and to continue pastoral work.
Since then, we have been blessed with a multitude of angels – YOU! You are the guardians who have made possible the rebirth of this glorious sacred place. Thanks to your support, Corpus Christi is making a remarkable comeback! The church is now listed on the State and National Registers of Historic Places, in recognition of its architectural and historic significance. Major restoration projects have been completed, including a new slate roof, restoration of the spectacular rose window, the iconic south tower and most recently the acclaimed Disputà mural above the church altar.
