Photos: Feast of the Baptism of the Lord – 2016 – Święto Chrztu Pańskiego

As part of the celebration of the Baptism of the Lord, parishioners of Corpus Christi Parish in Buffalo, renewed their Baptismal Promises. The photos in this album were taken during the 10 a.m. Polish language Mass on January 10, 2016.

The Feast of the Baptism of the Lord is held on the first Sunday following the Epiphany.

Parafianie parafii Bożego Ciała w Buffalo, stan New York, odnowili przyżeczenia Chrztu świętego w Święto Chrztu Pańskiego które się odbyło w niedzielę 10 stycznia, 2016r. Święto Chrztu Pańskiego ma miejsce w niedzielę po Święcie Objawienia Pańskiego (Trzech Króli). Zdjęcia te zostały wykonane podczas polskojęzycznej Mszy św (10 rano w każdą niedzielę).

Fr. Michał Czyżewski, Administrator of Corpus Christi Church, led the faithful in the renewal of their vows, making available light from the Paschal candle, as well as Holy Water, a symbol of Christ’s, and our Baptism.

Photos – Part II: Kolęda & Opłatek @ Corpus Christi Church – January 3, 2016

Corpus Christi Church invited the community to an “Opłatek & Kolęda” on January 3, in keeping with the tradition of gathering and caroling through the Christmas season in January. Ludowa Nuta Folk group from Hamilton, Ont. sang kolędy during the 10 a.m. Mass, and in Athletic Club hall after the 11:30 a.m. Mass.

The attendance exceeded expectations, and all enjoyed the holiness of the event set by Fr. Michał Czyżewski, the opportunity to share Opłatek and good wishes with friends, the chance to hear and sing Polish Christmas carols, the warm atmosphere, as well as the homemade Polish dinner, which included mushroom soup, bigos, kiełbasa, and homemade desserts.

Corpus Christi Church, under the leadership of Fr. Michał Czyżewski of the Pauline Fathers, promised to keep the Christmas decorations up, and the singing carols in church, until Feb. 2 in keeping with Polish tradition.
