The Parish of Corpus Christi would like to thank the Most Rev. Bishop Richard Malone and Fr. Ryszard Biernat for taking part in our Feast day procession, we would like to thank all the visiting clergy who walked with us, and we would also like to illustrate the wonderful cooperation between St. Stanislaus Church and here at Corpus Christi. We thank all those who helped with the procession from escorting the children to passing out water bottles and those who carried amplifiers, rang bells and carried statues. We would also like to thank those who helped with the food; not only at the Social and Athletic Hall but here at the rectory. Thank you one and all for your efforts to make this a blessed beautiful day.
On the Solemnity of the Holy Body and Blood of Jesus – June 23 (Sunday), the parish dedicated to Corpus Christi in Buffalo celebrated its annual indulgence. It is already a custom that on this day from the neighboring parish of Saint Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr sets off the Eucharistic procession to the parish of Corpus Christi. The procession this year was presided over by Bishop Richard Joseph Malone, ordinary of the diocese of Buffalo (USA).
Preparations for the Corpus Christi ceremony lasted for several weeks. It was necessary to obtain a permit from the city office to organize the procession and inform the police, who took care of security during the prayer at the four altars. People from both parishes met to discuss the details and plan the march of the procession properly.
At each altar, the Gospels were read in English and Polish. Similarly, Eucharistic songs were performed in two languages by participants of the procession.
On a sunny afternoon, the procession reached the Church of Corpus Christi, in which the Holy Mass was celebrated. under the guidance of the Bishop’s priest. The liturgy was attended by, among others priests from neighboring parishes, deacons, seminarians, nuns, representatives of Polish and American organizations, youth and children.
The memory of traditions and sustaining them among Polonia living in this part of America, Americans of Polish descent and followers of Jesus Christ from other continents, is intended to stimulate even greater zeal in religious life. It is undoubtedly participation in the procession of the Corpus Christi to such moments lived and expected. The Eucharistic procession is an opportunity to honor Jesus Christ hidden in the Blessed Sacrament and to confess publicly faith.
W Uroczystość Najświętszego Ciała i Krwi Pana Jezusa – 23 czerwca (niedziela), parafia pod wezwaniem Bożego Ciała w Buffalo obchodziła swój coroczny odpust. Jest już zwyczajem, że w tym dniu z sąsiedniej parafii św. Stanisława Biskupa i Męczennika wyrusza procesja Eucharystyczna do parafii Bożego Ciała.
Osoby z obydwu parafii spotkały się, by omówić szczegóły i prawidłowo zaplanować przemarsz procesji.
Przy poszczególnych ołtarzach były czytane Ewangelie w języku angielskim i polskim. Podobnie pieśni eucharystyczne były wykonywane w dwuch językach przez uczestników procesji.
W słoneczne popołudnie procesja dotarła do kościoła Bożego Ciała, w którym została odprawiona Msza św. pod przewodnictwem księdza biskupa. W liturgii wzięli udział m.in. kapłani z sąsiednich parafii, diakoni, seminarzyści, siostry zakonne, przedstawiciele organizacji polonijnych i amerykańskich, młodzież oraz dzieci.
Do takich momentów przeżywanych i oczekiwanych należy niewątpliwie udział w procesji Bożego Ciała. Procesja Eucharystyczna jest okazją, by oddać cześć Jezusowi Chrystusowi ukrytemu w Najświętszym Sakramencie i wyznać publicznie wiarę.
