Corpus Christi Church will host Hawaiian Luau on Oct. 24

Corpus Christi Church will host a Hawaiian Luau on Sunday, October 24.  All are welcome to attend the 11:30a.m. Mass, followed by the luau festivities which begin at 1:00p.m. and continue until 9:00p.m.

This family-friendly event will feature a pig roast and Hawaiian chicken buffet from 1:00p.m. – 4:00p.m., and a Tiki cash bar. A Hawaiian casino, Hawaiian music and entertainment, a raffle and theme baskets will also be offered.

Admission is just $10 per person and includes one raffle ticket for a queen size Amish quilt.  Tickets are on sale after all Sunday Masses, or at the Parish Office, 896-1050.  Free, off-street parking is available.

Come dressed in your favorite Hawaiian shirt (or not) and be ready to have a great time.

All proceeds help to preserve Corpus Christi Church, a landmark on the State and National Registers of Historic Places.

“Defy Diabetes” Program @ Corpus Christi

Niagara University nurses, in conjunction with the Parish Nurse Ministries of New York, Inc., have launched a six week educational seminar intended to heighten public awareness and discussion of a person’s lifestyle management of diabetes. This free pilot program, titled DEFY DIABETES, is being held at Corpus Christi Church in Buffalo. The next seminar will be scheduled in November based upon interest expressed by the community. All are welcome, but reservations are required. For details, call 566-1163.

The DEFY DIABETES educational outreach program is based on the significant number of Americans living with or at risk for developing diabetes. This program is made possible through a grant from the New York State Health Foundation to the Institute for Leadership in New York City who is rolling out the project. Corpus Christi Church’s 4th Annual Rosary Procession

Corpus Christi Church will host its 4th Annual Rosary Procession on the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, Thursday, October 7, at 7:00 p.m. The procession will begin at the church, located at 199 Clark Street in Buffalo.

Participants will walk with lighted candles in hand through the streets immediately surrounding the church, while the rosary is recited in various languages. The devotion will conclude at the foot of Mary’s statue across from the church entrance.

Devotion to the rosary is one of the most notable features of the Catholic faith. Pope John Paul II placed the rosary at the center of Christian spirituality and called it “among the finest and most praiseworthy traditions of Christian contemplations. All are invited to rediscover the efficacy of the prayer of the rosary for peace in the world and in families. A reception will follow in the Kolbe Center.
