10th Anniversary Concert Celebrating the Order of Saint Paul the First Hermit in Buffalo

Corpus Christi Church in Buffalo is very pleased to announce that child prodigy flutist, Emma Resmini, is headlining at our “In The Light” concert series on January 5, 2014. This concert is in celebration of the Pauline order of priest’s 10th anniversary at Corpus Christi. In attendance will be the authorities of the Pauline order.

Miss Resmini will be performing with Corpus Christi’s new Chamber Orchestra, selections by Mozart, Haydn and a movement from one of the flute concertos that Corpus Christi Director of Music Istvan Hernek has composed for her along with a chorale prelude for flute and orchestra that composed to commemorate the Pauline’s 10th anniversary at Corpus Christi.

The concert is free and open to the public. Miss Resmini will also be performing at Corpus Christi’s 11:30am Mass prior to the concert on January 5.

The Order of Saint Paul the First Hermit: the Pauline Fathers came to Buffalo in 2003 and took over ownership Corpus Christi Church saving it from closure. Since then, the church has undergone extensive restoration and still serves East Buffalo’s Historic Polonia as it has since 1898.

Visit from the Most Reverend Izydor Matuszewski

img-stpaulorderCorpus Christi will  have the Special Honor of  a visit from the Most Rev. Izydor Matuszewski, the General of the Order of  St. Paul the First Hermit, Rev. Arnold Chrapkowski, PhD, General Vicar, and Rev. John Berny, General Secretary, from Jasna Góra in Poland.

A special Mass will be offered on January 27th at 10:00 am.

A reception in their honor will follow the Mass.

All are invited to take part and meet the main superiors of our Pauline Fathers.

Buffalo News: Affirming a parish’s eternal values

After finding students’ long-ago letters to God, Corpus Christi acts in unison to echo message

(Helen Jones – Buffalo News) They were letters to God, written by schoolchildren more than a century ago.

And since being discovered concealed in a cross atop Corpus Christi Catholic Church on Clark Street, they continue to bring members of the East Side parish together — past, present and future.

“This was very surprising for us. It was a very beautiful moment,” the Rev. Mariusz Dymek, administrator of the parish, said Sunday of the recent discovery, which was made when a copper cupola and the cross were removed by a construction crew during restoration work.

So delighted were the parishioners that the decision was made to continue the tradition.

“So we followed this custom and asked our parishioners to add new letters to the old ones and put them back,” Dymek said.

The response from parishioners was overwhelming. Asked how many members were participating in the letter-writing campaign, which continued Sunday after all Masses, Dymek said, “Almost everyone.”
