The\u00a0message is nothing new, but is a reminder of what the\u00a0Church has always taught through scripture and tradition:\u00a0that God is merciful and forgiving and that we, too, must\u00a0show mercy and forgiveness. But in the Divine Mercy\u00a0devotion, the message takes on a powerful new focus,\u00a0calling people to a deeper understanding that God\u2019s love is The message and devotion to Jesus as The Divine Mercy\u00a0is based on the writings of Saint Faustina Kowalska, an\u00a0uneducated Polish nun who, in obedience to her spiritual\u00a0director, wrote a diary of about 600 pages recording the\u00a0revelations she received about God\u2019s mercy. Even before\u00a0her death in 1938, the devotion to The Divine Mercy had\u00a0begun to spread. The message of mercy is that God loves us \u2014 all of us \u2014 no matter how great our sins. He wants us to recognize that His mercy is greater than our sins, so that we will call upon \u00a0Him with trust, receive His mercy, and let it flow through us to others. Thus, all will come to share His joy.<\/p>\n It is a message we can call to mind simply by remembering ABC.<\/p>\n A \u2014 Ask for His Mercy. God wants us to approach\u00a0Him in prayer constantly, repenting of our sins and\u00a0asking Him to pour His mercy out upon us and upon\u00a0the whole world.<\/p>\n B \u2014 Be merciful. God wants us to receive His mercy\u00a0and let it flow through us to others. He wants us to\u00a0extend love and forgiveness to others just as He does\u00a0to us.<\/p>\n C \u2014 Completely trust in Jesus. God wants us to know\u00a0that the graces of His mercy are dependent upon our\u00a0trust.
