St. Maximilian Kolbe, pray for us!

St. Maximilian Kolbe, whose feast day was August 14, had his relic venerated at Corpus Christi Church ( 199 Clark St. Buffalo) after Friday’s 8:45 Mass. The saint willingly took the place of a stranger who was chosen to die at the German death camp in Auschwitz, Poland, during World War II. Although his body had been burned in the crematorium, at an earlier period in his life because he had been known for his holiness, the hair from his beard was saved by one of the Friars. St. Maximilian Kolbe has ties to Corpus Christi Church through his immense love for the Blessed Virgin, and being a Polish Franciscan Conventual Friar. For those who are newer to the Parish, the Franciscan Conventuals resided at Corpus Christi before the Pauline Fathers took over in 2004.
