Corpus Christi Church invited the community to an “Opłatek & Kolęda” on January 3, in keeping with the tradition of gathering and caroling through the Christmas season in January. Ludowa Nuta Folk group from Hamilton, Ont. sang kolędy during the 10 a.m. Mass, and in Athletic Club hall after the 11:30 a.m. Mass.
The attendance exceeded expectations, and all enjoyed the holiness of the event set by Fr. Michał Czyżewski, the opportunity to share Opłatek and good wishes with friends, the chance to hear and sing Polish Christmas carols, the warm atmosphere, as well as the homemade Polish dinner, which included mushroom soup, bigos, kiełbasa, and homemade desserts.
Corpus Christi Church, under the leadership of Fr. Michał Czyżewski of the Pauline Fathers, promised to keep the Christmas decorations up, and the singing carols in church, until Feb. 2 in keeping with Polish tradition.
