Corpus Christi Church on the East side of Buffalo NY, will be celebrating their 36th Dożynki Harvest Festival the weekend of September 19th and 20th. The event takes place Saturday and Sunday in the Sears Hall also known as the Sears Athletic Club or the SAC. The festival will be held on the first and second floors of this historic building. The location is 165 Sears St. The hall is located off Broadway. Plenty of parking will be available. Admission is $1.00. The 6th annual Pierogi Contest will return and once again hi-lite the talents of the ‘pierogi makers’ as they create their favorite traditional and non-traditional pierogi making a new recipe or carrying on a family recipe through the generations.
The committee is excited about the changes occurring this year. The festival is the major fundraiser for the church. It was decided to move the festival indoors to address the rising needs and cost of running an outdoor festival.
The goal of the festival is to celebrate the blessings of a bountiful harvest and bring together our parish, our family, friends, and our community to celebrate our faith and culture. What better way to do this than with great entertainment including The Buffalo Touch, Al Kania, and Special Delivery.
Polish and American food and drink will be available. This includes the delicious Polish Platter, baloney and onions, and hotdogs. Homemade desserts will compliment your meal with the Polish Café. Polish and American beers will also be available. On Sunday, the bar will remain hi-light the Bills game with a TV. Old-time bowling returns and is sure to be a big hit with the younger generation sharing the lanes with the older generation who once bowled in the Sears Athletic Club League.
